Leveraging Partnerships to Serve Learners Globally
UChicago Professional collaborates with partners around the world to expand access to and enhance the impact of non-credit programs.

For more than 125 years, the University of Chicago has been a leader in higher education. We have shaped new schools of thought and a transformative education for students, and laid the groundwork for breakthroughs across the sciences, medicine, economics, law, business, history, culture, the arts, and humanistic inquiry.
From the earliest days of the University, we have also been pioneers of adult education, establishing one of the nation’s first extension schools and offering some of the first university correspondence courses. We continue this legacy by providing innovative online education programs to professionals around the world and in diverse disciplines.
UChicago Professional collaborates with partners around the world to expand access to and enhance the impact of these programs. We work with different partners in different ways, but the high academic standards and faculty expertise for which the University is renowned are foundational to all its programs.
Global Alumni
The University of Chicago partners with Global Alumni to deliver a portfolio of online programs for learners around the world. The University is responsible for developing all program curricula and academic content, and all courses are designed and taught by University of Chicago instructors and faculty. Global Alumni provides support for marketing and enrollment (including for payment and invoicing), and they provide operational support for participants after starting the program. Global Alumni is particularly adept at engaging Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets, and we have worked with them to translate and deliver many programs in those languages.

HyperionDev
The University of Chicago partners with HyperionDev to offer a portfolio of flexible online bootcamps designed to help students—regardless of their prior education or experience—pivot into a lucrative career in tech. These bootcamps span three to six months, and their topics include data science, cybersecurity, web development, and software engineering. HyperionDev has developed curricula and learning materials closely aligned with industry needs and engages mentors and code reviewers with industry experience to support students. They also provide career, marketing, recruitment, and student support. Each program has a faculty director from the University of Chicago who oversees the program academically. These directors ensure that their programs maintain the University’s high standards and, where possible, enhance the learning experience.

Coursera and edX
Coursera and edX are leading providers of self-paced, open online programs, and the University of Chicago has partnered with them to offer courses on their platforms and reach learners at scale. We have had nearly one million enrollments in these programs. All curricula and learning materials have been developed by University of Chicago faculty. Coursera and edX are responsible for maintaining the platforms, marketing, and supporting students during their journey (e.g., managing payments and providing tech support).
ThriveDX
The University of Chicago partnered with ThriveDX to offer highly synchronous bootcamps in cybersecurity and software development that span about eight months. ThriveDX provided curricula and learning materials, identified and hired instructors, and supported marketing, recruitment, student success, and job placement. All program materials were reviewed by University of Chicago subject-matter experts who, in many cases, provided revisions and supplements. All program instructors were vetted and trained by University staff. Our last cohort will complete their program in May 2026.
