Sampoorna Rappaz, PhD

Sampoorna Rappaz is the COO of Publisher Pro, AG and a freelance medical writer and editor based in Switzerland. She received her MSc in human genetics from the University of Leeds, UK, in 2008 and went on obtain her PhD in cancer biology from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in 2014. She has 10 years of experience in scientific communication and has worked as a professional medical editor since 2019. From 2019 to 2022, she supported multilingual authors of medical publications with their editing needs at a leading global scientific communications company. Since 2021, she has worked with UK-based medical communications agencies and consultants as a writer and an editor on a variety of scientific and medical communication deliverables for top global pharmaceutical companies. A member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and ACES: The Society for Editing, Dr Rappaz obtained AMWA’s Essential Skills certificate in 2020 and was awarded the Geoff Hall Memorial Scholarship by EMWA in 2021. She is the associate editor of Medical Writing, EMWA’s quarterly publication, and a supporting member of EMWA’s Medical Communications Special Interest Group (co-lead of medical journalism subgroup) and the Communicating with the Public Special Interest Group. Her articles on ethical and effective scientific communication have been published in Medical Writing and AMWA Journal.
