Freelance Medical Writer and Editor
Genevieve Walker, PhD, has been a medical writer and editor since 2002, when she received her PhD in English from the University of Oregon. Since 2009, she has been a full-time freelance medical communicator. Through her business, Bridge Health Communications, Dr. Walker creates content for patients, families, and caregivers as well as healthy consumers seeking information. Her clients are hospitals, health centers, disease-focused organizations, foundations, and medical education organizations.
Dr. Walker is a longtime member of the American Medical Writers Association and currently serves on its board of directors. Her work on patient education and plain language has appeared in the AMWA Journal and the journal of the European Medical Association. Dr. Walker also belongs to the Plain Language Association International. With formal training in working with adult learners, Dr. Walker is enthusiastic about teaching and mentoring those in her classes and helping them to find their niches in medical communications.
