Michael H. Silverman, MD, FACP

Michael H. Silverman, MD, FACP, is a board-certified internist with almost 4 decades of experience in biopharmaceutical industry clinical research, product development, and strategic planning.  His pharmaceutical industry career has included positions of increasing responsibility at both global and start-up companies, where he has managed multiple pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects across a broad scope of therapeutic areas.

Dr. Silverman, who has extensive experience in pharmaceutical clinical development and management, is the principal of BioStrategics Consulting Ltd. BioStrategics Consulting Ltd (www.biostrategics.com) provides strategic and technical clinical development consulting services to development-stage biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies around the world. In his consulting capacity, Dr. Silverman assists sponsor companies with technology assessments and due diligence activities; strategic planning and program development; clinical development strategy; clinical protocol creation, conduct, analysis, and presentation; and regulatory agency interactions.

Prior to founding his consulting company, Dr. Silverman served as Manager, KPMG Health Care Consulting; Vice President of Clinical Research at Biopure Corporation in Cambridge, MA; Executive Director of Clinical Research at Telor Ophthalmic Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, MA; Director of Clinical Research at Sandoz Research Institute in East Hanover, NJ; and Clinical Project Director at Sterling-Winthrop Research Institute in Rensselaer, NY. He was in clinical practice of medicine for seven years.

Dr. Silverman received his BS from the University of Illinois and his MD from the University of Chicago. He completed his medical residency at the University of Iowa and a fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He is doubly certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and was awarded Fellowship by the American College of Physicians in 1983. In 2020, he was awarded the University of Chicago Alumni Service Medal for extended, extraordinary service to the University.
