Ted Sickler, PhD

Ted Sickler is a journalist and historian. He has a doctorate in American history from the University of Delaware where he studied slavery, markets, and Atlantic World history. He also holds a master’s degree in American history from UDEL. Further, he holds a master's degree in American Studies and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from Pennsylvania State University. He has taught at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania and at UDEL as an adjunct instructor. And Ted has served as a newsroom editor in various roles for more than 35 years at LNP | LancasterOnline, PennLive | The Patriot-News, and the York Daily Record.
Ted completed the Certificate in Editing in June 2025. He is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.
He is the founder of a freelance editing business for academic and nonfiction writers.
